About Revit Design Software

Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling program for architects, landscaping engineers, structural engineers, electromechanical engineers (MEP), designers and contractors.

Autodesk Revit allows users to design a 3D building, structure and components, add comments and write dimensions and names on the building, its sectors and panels. It also allows access to building information from the model database stored on the project’s server. Among the most important features of the program is the 3D technology and the possibility of simulating the design and its vision and wandering in it as in the ground as well as that you can calculate the quantities of the elements that you designed very quickly and do all the tagging and annotations in a simple and fast way, and the program can be linked to various other programs, including Autocad. Export has worked for blueprints in different formats: PDF and DWG, which is a program that is fully compatible with different disciplines: (Architectural – Structural – Electrical – Mechanical) and has a very high ability to make architectural and construction designs regardless of their degree of difficulty and complexity, and whatever their strange shape.

The original software was developed by Charles River Software, which was established in 1997, then renamed Revit Technology Corporation in 2000, and which was purchased by Autodesk in 2002.

About this course

During this course, we will learn about the most important features of the revit program, which is 3D technology, work on drawing pipes and cable trays for electrical systems, how to find and solve collisions between the different elements and carry out the tagging and annotation process in a simplified and fast way. We will also learn how the Enlarged rooms work. Magnifying glass like communication rooms and many other things, and we will end the course by creating a simplified design for one of the communication systems and applying what we have worked on it.

What You Will Learn

  • Familiarize yourself with the coordination process for ceiling plans
  • How to make import link to files from other sections
  • How do we copy/monitor grids and levels?
  • How to draw cable tray, various types, uses, and 2D & 3D pipes
  • How to filters and control display settings
  • How to tag (label) the elements and write them correctly
  • How do we create enlarged rooms as communication rooms?
  • How to do a design export from Revit to AutoCAD
  • How to find clashes between elements and their 2D & 3D solution
  • Simplified design work for the Structured cabling network
  • How to export a design from Revit to Navisworks?

 Syllabus

Unit 1: Mirrored Ceiling Plans

In this unit, we will discuss an important and distinctive topic, which is Ceiling plans, which is something that you use in almost every project and it is useful for arranging the elements of sections on the ceiling of all kinds.

Unit 2: Designing cable and pipe holders

In this unit, we will learn how to draw cable trays, their importance and use, which is a distinctive topic and is particularly important to the Electricity and Communications Department.

Unit 3: Identifying explanations and engineering signs

The annotation process is a necessary process for every project and its design helps to make the chart easier to read and write the important and necessary notes, and we will deal with it in this unit.

Unit 4: Designing Magnified Rooms

There are many important rooms in the project that must be accurately explained and shown in separate plans, including communication and electricity rooms, so that the Enlarged Plan for this room is made, which is what we will address in this unit.

Unit 5: Solving collisions between different departments

In this unit, we will discuss a very important topic, which is finding the number of collisions between the elements of the different departments and how to search for them and solve all their problems in a simple, easy and fast manner using many tools.

Institution

Edraak

Edraak, is a massive open online course (MOOC) platform, that is an initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF). QRF is determined to ensure that the Arab world is at the forefront of educational innovation. As such, QRF has capitalized on regional Arab talent to leverage technology developed by the Harvard-MIT consortium, edX, to create the first non-profit Arabic MOOC platform. The new MOOC platform will present the Arab world with unique and vital opportunities that can be part of a necessary revolution in education and learning.

First, the platform will broadcast the best Arab professors to the region, offering original Arabic courses – developed by QRF – to further enrich Arab education. Through its partnership with edX, the platform will also give Arab learners access in Arabic to courses taught and developed at top tier institutions like HarvardX, MITX, and UC BerkelyX. All courses are delivered at no cost to the learner.

Second, QRF envisions the use of the platform to showcase Arab role models by broadcasting short online courses by practitioners and professionals from a variety of fields spanning the arts and sciences.

Finally, QRF believes that the platform will enable the Arab world to take advantage of the international interest in regional affairs to tell its own story to the world. Arab university professors and regional experts can use the platform to give courses in English about the region and its history. This will serve to inform a global audience that is interested in the region’s development.
