Basics in Revit Design
About Revit Design Software
Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling program for architects, landscaping engineers, structural engineers, electromechanical engineers (MEP), designers and contractors.
Autodesk Revit allows users to design a 3D building, structure and components, add comments and write dimensions and names on the building, its sectors and panels. It also allows access to building information from the model database stored on the project’s server. Among the most important features of the program is the 3D technology and the possibility of simulating the design and its vision and wandering in it as in the ground as well as that you can calculate the quantities of the elements that you designed very quickly and do all the tagging and annotations in a simple and fast way, and the program can be linked to various other programs, including Autocad. Export has worked for blueprints in different formats: PDF and DWG, which is a program that is fully compatible with different disciplines: (Architectural – Structural – Electrical – Mechanical) and has a very high ability to make architectural and construction designs regardless of their degree of difficulty and complexity, and whatever their strange shape.
The original software was developed by Charles River Software, which was established in 1997, then renamed Revit Technology Corporation in 2000, and which was purchased by Autodesk in 2002.
About this course
In the early stages of design, basic concepts were created using the two-dimensional shape and designers had to draw a physical picture of their visualization in order to communicate their idea clearly to those interested. And designers used to spend a lot of time erasing, modifying and purifying their paintings and plans, while now and after this technological progress and the spread of design programs, they can accomplish much more than that compared to the past, so that design programs by computer for two-dimensional design were launched, such as the autocad program and others From the programs and after that, a 3D design program was developed, such as the Revit program, which we will deal with in the course. Syllabus
Unit 1: Understanding engineering design programs
This week, we will learn about the Revit program, which is a global engineering design program that has many features.
Unit 2: Fundamentals of Revit
In this unit, we will discuss the elements of the Revit program, how to download them, in addition to how Floor plans work and start the design process on them.
Unit 3: Beginning Design Work
In this unit, we will learn many tools that can be used in the Revit program to determine element heights, how to make sections, and the most important differences between view plans.
Unit 4: the creation of schdeules
In this unit we will learn how to calculate quantities and find the number of different elements for which the design was made in my project file in an easy and fast way.
Unit 5: Designing and Printing Sheets
In this unit, we will learn how to make charts, create sheets, how to read different information on them, in addition to printing and extracting them in various formats.
Institution
Edraak
Edraak, is a massive open online course (MOOC) platform, that is an initiative of the Queen Rania Foundation (QRF). QRF is determined to ensure that the Arab world is at the forefront of educational innovation. As such, QRF has capitalized on regional Arab talent to leverage technology developed by the Harvard-MIT consortium, edX, to create the first non-profit Arabic MOOC platform. The new MOOC platform will present the Arab world with unique and vital opportunities that can be part of a necessary revolution in education and learning.
First, the platform will broadcast the best Arab professors to the region, offering original Arabic courses – developed by QRF – to further enrich Arab education. Through its partnership with edX, the platform will also give Arab learners access in Arabic to courses taught and developed at top tier institutions like HarvardX, MITX, and UC BerkelyX. All courses are delivered at no cost to the learner.
Second, QRF envisions the use of the platform to showcase Arab role models by broadcasting short online courses by practitioners and professionals from a variety of fields spanning the arts and sciences.
Finally, QRF believes that the platform will enable the Arab world to take advantage of the international interest in regional affairs to tell its own story to the world. Arab university professors and regional experts can use the platform to give courses in English about the region and its history. This will serve to inform a global audience that is interested in the region’s development.
